Marisa Caichiolo is the Santa Monica Arts Foundation’s 2019 Arts Patron Award Recipients. She is an artist and curator who studied art history and curatorial studies, and holds a PhD in Art History and Psychology. Marisa is committed to erasing the differences among cultures and societies across the world. Marisa is the Founder, Director and main curator of Building Bridges Art Exchange (BBAX) – International non-profit organization based in Bergamot Station, Santa Monica. She provides extraordinary educational and interactive art exhibitions. BBAX have cultivated a unique cultural program for more than a decade that offers to the community a vigorous schedule of quality contemporary art exhibitions, lectures, workshops and educational activities. Marisa and her team have sustained over the years international relationships with Ministries of Culture, museums, and other cultural institutions, through exhibition exchange and a residency program for artists that give international artists the opportunity to share their work and concepts with the Santa Monica community.
