Mouth Germs! - Oral Microflora (Mouth Microbiome)

Описание к видео Mouth Germs! - Oral Microflora (Mouth Microbiome)

The oral microbiome, aka microbiota, aka microflora, contains over 700 species of bacteria, not to mention the fungi, viruses, and protozoa. This vast biodiversity inhabits multiple niches - the teeth, gums, buccal (cheek) region, sublingual (tongue) region, and so on. In this video I highlight just one species: streptococcus mutans, which is implicated in plaque formation and the demineralization of tooth enamel, resulting in dental caries.
