Mavi discusses how Virtual Reality (VR) Technology could be used to improve the human condition. Her studies with VR simulations include those that have shown increases in empathy of spousal abusers, along with other personal improvements that users might achieve. Mavi Sánchez-Vives is a Neuroscientist and co-director of EVENT Lab (Experimental Virtual Environments in Neuroscience and Tehcnology) which studies VR technology in helping patients and users learn to manage physical and psychological issues. She works with a concept called ‘embodiment’ which relates to how we see ourselves within VR.
