Later, I head to Tang Dynasty City (Shengshi Tangcheng), a spectacular recreation of ancient Chang’an. By day, it feels like a living museum of the Tang Dynasty; by night, the entire city comes alive with performances, music, lights and street shows — like travelling back to China’s golden age without a time machine.
