CVUA Family House Recipient / USDP Typhoon Help – 2013-14
Keziah Hiss – September 2014

The Batayola Family of Brgy. Borongon San Dionisio, Iloilo, Philippines is the recipient of Civic Social Engagement of CVUA (Chemisches- und Veterinäruntersuchungsamt) / (Office of chemical- and veterinarian inspection) based in Freiburg Germany.
Through Filipino-Kultur Verein Freiburg ( thanks to Mrs. Teresa Dufer) , San Dionisians flight after Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda was conveyed to Michaela Fritz who is working in the institution.

USDP and the Batayola Family are very thankful and grateful to all the efforts and help of Ms. Fritz. We also like to pass on our heartfelt thanks to all the employees and management of CVUA, Freiburg.

CVUA was able to gather 87,000 pesos (1.457 Euro) to help build a house and other necessities of the family recipient.

A. Finances
Salve Tuminez was in-charge of all the 87,000 Php donation from CVUA.
Total expenses is -99,697 Php (-6,447 Php additional from USDP)

B. 38 sq lot
The construction of the house was delayed brought about by searching for the availability of the lot to be bought, preparation of papers of the recipients which they all lost from the storm surge and papers and ownership complications with the neighboring lots owners.
50 sq meters. The planned total area to be bought was surveyed by Fred Alingaongao. feb. 14, 2014. This was followed by opposition of the neighboring owner with regard to the boundary, who employed another surveyor for a repeat of relocation and survey.

Another lot was proposed by Capt. Lope which was again surveyed last 26. March 2014 by the same surveyor. It turned out again to have complications with the neighboring lot near the road.

After eradication of complications and problems 38 sq. meters was bought from Brgy. Capt. Adriano Lope for 250 Php per square.
On 2. May 2014 the deed of sale was sealed by the signatures of Florelyn Batayola and Adriano Lope. The total area is 38 sq. meters.
-Mrs. Batayola has to correct her marital name which delayed the notarization of the paper. The deed of sale was notarized 7. July 2015. (Note: Legality of ownership. Batayola Family will be the one who has to work out the subdivision and transfer of the lot to their name.)

(Buying of the lot was taken seriously by USDP because the Batayola Family is squatting directly on the shoreline. The Presidential Order of No Build-No Dwell policy – which is prohibiting dwelling or contraction of any structures 30 meters from the shoreline poses a threat that their house will be destroyed or moved within the area if the government will start the implementation or the order. The 38 sq. meter lot is approximately 200-250 meters more or less away from the shoreline.

C. House Construction
The Batayola couple was asked to be in-charge of buying and construction of their house.

Materials -The house is made of hard wood, coco lumber, plywood, bamboo and with metal sheets roof

Paint – Pioneer epoxy was used to cover connections of the plywood used for walling. Concrete Bond paint is used to serve as water proof shield on the outside walling. Solignum was also used to paint the woods against insects.
The roof was painted with metal oxide and roof guard.

D. Food, Medication and School needs.
A total of 20.000 Php (twenty thousand pesos) was used by the Family to support their daily needs for food. The husband was hospitalized as well two of her children. School supplies and uniforms were also taken from CVUA donation.

The Batayola Family could not say enough of their joy and gratefulness. They are now living in their new house and proud of their 38 sq meter lot.

Thank you again, CVUA , Michaela, Teresa.

Thank you to USDP members:
Charina Tubar, Susan Sanchez, Lilia Grindle
Salve Tuminez, Lyn Trabajador, Jovel Fernandez, Andreas Hiss
