It all began in Hyères at the International Fashion and Photography Festival last year. Evangelia Kranioti won the special prize of the jury with a film, or rather a work of artistic and anthropological research, on life, travel, and Greece, her islands. Her work sparked the interest of Maison Barrie. When the House told her about Scotland, a destination she did not know, she instinctively sensed that this was the call to adventure, given that she loves nothing more than landing in a place full of mystery, exploring the unknown, losing her bearings. Once there, she literally fell under the spell of Scotland. As a Greek woman, she tended to be more sensitive to Mediterranean light. But these landscapes are so wild, so unpredictable... It is a country like no other, and legendary for that reason also.

As someone who comes from the art world, she knows what the work of a craftsman means, work she sometimes depends on for her own work ; what the French call “savoir faire,” or know-how, is the in-depth knowledge of a trade, augmented by technological advances, and then passing on these skills. In Scotland, she becomes the witness of a struggle, and also of a love, the love of the people of Barrie for Scottish cashmere. Off-camera, you also have the talent of the Parisian studio with its avant-garde view of design and colors, enabling a collection to come to life each season, in this factory founded in 1903 in Hawick, a small town in Scotland.
