All NEW Audi A4 Avant 2024 - Visual REVIEW, exterior & interior

The Audi A4 Avant combines the premium quality and technology of the A4 saloon with extra practicality thanks to its estate car body style. It's a spacious and comfortable cruiser, with a high-quality cabin and generous equipment levels even in base specification.

While it may not be quite as fun to drive as the BMW 3 Series Touring or as comfy as the Mercedes C-Class Estate, the A4 Avant strikes a good balance between the two. It majors on comfort and refinement, feeling quiet and smooth at motorway speeds and easily absorbing bumps around town.

There's plenty of space inside for four tall adults to stretch out in comfort, while the 505-litre boot is competitively sized. Fold the rear seats down and you get almost 1,500 litres of space. The A4 Avant is easy to drive too thanks to light steering and good visibility. However, the turning circle is bigger than its rivals.

Engine options are split between two petrol and two diesel units, all decently powerful while the diesels offer the best efficiency. With no hybrids though, the A4 is behind the times in that regard. Performance can't match a lively 3 Series but few will have complaints about lack of poke.

While the cabin features quality materials, it lacks the latest connectivity and tech due to the A4's advancing age. You only get two front USB points and the infotainment misses out on functionality of newer rivals. Safety kit is also merely adequate rather than exceptional but the A4 Avant remains fundamentally a very solid premium estate car choice.

If you can live without a cutting-edge interior and the newest in-car technology, the Audi A4 Avant combines space, comfort, quality and strong residual values. It's a premium estate option for those who value refinement over sportiness.
