Written Entry
“If tears could build a kingdom,
and memories its soldiers.
I would command holy armies
and fight for you in death's fields.
No farewell words were spoken,
No time to say you're sorry
You were gone before I could fight for you,
And only the Gods know why.
My heart still aches with sadness,
and secret tears still flow.
What it meant to be your son –
You will never know.
But now I know you're happy
In a place where death is living;
To remember all the happy times
life still has much in store.
Since you will never be forgotten,
I pledge to you today
A hallowed place within my heart
is where you’ll always stay.
Farewell my dear father
Until we live again”

“If there is good to come of my father's passing it is that my bond with Sergei has strengthened. The boy is stronger than I thought. He has stood by my side to arrange family affairs, when he is not indulging himself in the company of Tatyanna… Perhaps that is best. My allies in court have reached out to discuss the future of our great nation and these schemes demand my absolute attention.

Better Sergei finds his own path, his own love. If my new council of conspirators are to succeed he will awake to find himself a Prince of Sersia and I, having achieved my royal accession, will finally earn Tatyanna’s love. She would be my queen.”

“This tome has become the great script for the chronicle of the new royal line. On this day, the era of my rule begins. Through the aid of my allies King Phalaris Von Zarovich ascends to be King of Sersia.

In the dead of night my allies in the royal guard swayed open the gates to the royal palace and we laid waste to all who stood between us and the late king. I donned the crown while his blood was still wet on my hands. The court murmurs on the brutality the royal families slaughter but I can not afford those with legitimate claims to frighten my rule. I am confident these whispers will subside as they witness the greatness of my rule.”


“Many would consider a rebellion so early in my rule a misfortune. I see it as an opportunity. I shall crush these pretenders utterly so that all men know the wrath possessed within my heart. A wrath that can only be quelled by the visage of my dear love. She alludes to me still, pressing herself against my younger brother in spite of my accession. She claims to fear for her safety as the queen of a warring nation… Her fragility compels her to fear and she would not sway under my promise of safety. I am a patient man and will allow her to persist in the warmth of Sergei’s arms. I am willing to delay the day when I must break Sergei's heart with the truth of Tatyanna's love for me.”

I deliver the grave
With tempered steel
I deliver death
With hellish will
I made a bloody bowl of their valley.

Come death
I summoned you
Atop a throne of bones
You kneel to me

I carroled my family’s enemies into a valley and slaughtered them to the last. Through blood I erased the ink of their existence from the annals of history. All that remains are their screams in the wind and the meal of their bones crushed fine under the trample of horses. None dare to stand against me in fear they will meet the same fate, and they would. I delivered unto them the fury of a ruthless God and now they kneel in supplication. I have named the valley Barovia in honor of my father. The bones of the loyalists will be the bedrock of my new capital.

I believed the end of this war would mark the beginning of my unrestricted romance with Tatyanna but she resists me still. Now she claims the distance between our homeland and my new capital is too vast, that she could not bear the discomfort of common beds whilst I had a castle built. I know just as much the pleasures of Sersia and could not bear myself to imagine Tatyanna forced to live as I have for so long. She is a delicate woman. I would not risk the failure of her constitution as it has failed my father. I must forge a city worthy of being called her home, with a castle so spectacular as to equal my love for her.”
