BMW R100 S 2 Valve Airhead - Engine and Electrics Go In

Описание к видео BMW R100 S 2 Valve Airhead - Engine and Electrics Go In

After long time waiting the engine of the BMW R100S MY 1976 2 valve airhead arrived and I am SO happy to be able to mount it. It is always a struggle to find time to work in the workshop (And be able to film everything) so I didnt want to wait for the perfect moment when a friend can help to mount the engine. Dont work hard but work smart I thought and found a good way to mount the engine all alone.

Still it weighs around 50 kg so even with my method it was tricky not to scratch the powder coated frame. After the 2 engine bolts are in we go ahead with the gearbox. Since the swing am was in already there was not much space but I thought it would go in without removing anything. The BMW proved me wrong - it is the best to loosen the swing arm bolts and push it back a little (I didnt do that).

With the gearbox in and the kardan connection on we mount the airbox, battery holder plus battery and finally all electrics with the lamp. Side note: Most parts like fuses etc. are IN the lamp (I didnt know that) and I think thats really smart bc there is simply enough space.

One of the most exciting moments during such a project is to hear the engine running the first time. Thats why I am always really nervous when it comes to filling in all oils and fuel. Lets see if this bike will run (The starter motor is lost so I have to kick start the cold and not tuned in motor)!
