I am currently in Bhoin pur village, located in Tehsil and District Sheikhupura, Punjab, Pakistan. Before the Partition of Punjab in 1947, this village was the ancestral home of Sardar Labh Singh, who was the Numberdar (headman) of Bhoin pur. The village was mainly inhabited by the Virk clan, and even today, traces of that history remain alive.

The most striking landmark here is the magnificent haveli of Sardar Labh Singh, which still stands with its royal grandeur and historic architecture. Once the pride of this village, the haveli is now home to a Muslim family, yet it continues to reflect the cultural heritage of pre-partition Punjab.

Today, the population of Bhoin pur mainly consists of Muslim and Christian families, with more than half of the houses still built in traditional mud (kacha) style, keeping the old rural lifestyle alive.

Although the haveli remains in Pakistan, the descendants of Sardar Labh Singh’s family migrated after partition and are now living highly successful lives in India, the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Their story represents the journey of Punjabi diaspora families, who carried their heritage across the globe while their ancestral roots remained in villages like Bhoin pur.
