Dr. David M. Brown earned his bachelors degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana and his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He did his pediatrics residency at the University of Minnesota, and was a fellow in endocrinology and metabolism. After working at the Wilford Hall United States Air Force Medical Center in Lackland, Texas, he returned to the University of Minnesota in 1967 as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. He advanced at the University, becoming an associate professor and director of clinical laboratories. He served as dean of the Medical School from 1984-1993. After his resignation as dean, Dr. Brown returned to teaching and research, serving as head of the Clinical Research Center and as a Professor of Pediatrics and Laboratory Medicine. He retired in 2002.
