This is a general video that shows the process for removing and installing this chip and fuse. Please note that your board may differ in color shape or size from the board that we are showing in this video.
Also, your components may differ in their location and orientation from the board that we are showing in this video.
I will start by removing the existing chip from the board. I am using a heat gun to apply heat on the chip around the legs. If you do not have a heat gun, you can use your soldering iron.
After I have loosened the chip from the board, I will use my tweezers to lift the chip from the board.
Then I will use my solder wick and iron to clean up the pads on the board.
After I have removed all of the existing solder, I will use a q tip and some isopropyl alcohol to clean up the pads further.
After I have cleaned the pads, I can get my replacement component aligned properly with my tweezers. There is a small dot on the chip, be sure to line up that circle with the arrow on the board.
Next, I will use my tweezers to hold the chip in place and put some flux onto the legs of the component, then I will add some solder to my iron and run the tip of my iron on the legs to solder it in place.
After I have soldered one side of the chip in place, I will then rotate the board and solder each side of the chip to the board.
On the last side I have created a solder bridge, which is not good. I will use my solder wick and iron to remove some of the solder I added. Then I will run my iron back over the legs with more solder and make sure there are no bridges between the legs.
Next, I will take my wire brush and run it over the legs, just to be sure they are clean and there is no excess solder residue.
Next, we will replace the fuse. I am using my heat gun to loosen the fuse from the board, once again if you do not have a heat gun, you can use your iron.
After I have loosened the fuse from the board, I will remove it with my tweezers.
Next, I will use my q tip and isopropyl alcohol to clean up the pads. Then I can add a little bit of solder or solder paste to each of the pads and then place my fuse into position with the tweezers.
After getting the fuse into position, if needed, you can apply more heat to get the fuse soldered to the board.
We have now replaced the fuse and chip in this component repair chip.
