Apex Predators is the hardest challenge in the Arena, but Scrap Beasts is a close second. First and foremost, note that this is an open loadout challenge. If you don't like the strategy presented here, you can adapt it to better suit your playstyle and the weapons at your disposal. And if you have an amazing frost weapon and a strong sharpshot bow, you can probably complete it in a fraction of the time and effort by simply shooting the Clamberjaws.
That said, here's how to do it with (relatively) bad gear.
For this challenge, I'm going to use a lot of traps—at least 12 Elite Vertical Shock Traps. To start out, I like to tag all the enemies so that I can keep better track of them when there's a lot of smoke and fire in the Arena (spoiler). Then I ensure I have smoke bombs ready to go on my Hunter's Kit, swap to my ropes, and dive in.
The first step is to rope every single enemy in the Arena. This can be really annoying. They attack. A lot. And Clamberjaws have a Resource Scanner on their eyes that prevents them from being confused by your smoke bombs. Be ready to dodge constantly. Try to slide as much possible when using the ropecaster to get the bonus draw speed and to maximize your invincibility frames. And be prepared to have to try again if you accidentally get clobbered.
Start by tying down the Bileguts if you can, since they are the far bigger threat. Then turn your attention to the monkeys. Ideally you will rope the Clamberjaws down near to one another but far away from the Bileguts. I know—easier said than done.
Once the enemies are tied down, it's time to use your traps. Three Elite Vertical Shock Traps should be sufficient to kill a Clamberjaw. If you have two of them roped down next to one another, the traps can perform double duty. You can explode the traps using any ammo—or your body, if you mastered the i-Frame Explosion. Be careful about any collateral damage from exploding the fire sacs on the Clamberjaws, since that can cause the Bileguts to come free before you're ready.
If you're speedy about killing the Clamberjaws, you may be able to skip directly to the Sustained Burst step. If not, you may need to rerope the Bileguts again first. If the Bileguts are close to breaking free but still detained, you can use that brief window to set traps next to them before moving to the Sustained Burst. Options!
When the Bileguts are safely roped, use frost arrows targeting the armor plates. Note that I have a weak frost bow so I am relying on the instant brittle chance that's afforded by the legendary coils; at this stage in the game, you should have the resources you need to acquire those coils, too. You want to deal elemental build-up, but you do not want to cause damage, because that will cause the Bileguts to come free of the ropes. You should have plenty of valor for a Ranged Master at this point. Then swap to the Boltblaster and use Sustained Burst. I prefer to aim at the Egg Launchers and the Resource Containers on their butts. Make sure not to shoot the fire sacs on their throat. You don't want them to explode and 1) damage you, 2) exit the brittle state, and 3) prematurely end the Sustained Burst and waste all your stamina.
For the rest of the fight, you just want to repeat the previous step. One at a time rope them down, get them frozen, and use Sustained Burst. Depending on the strength of your weapons and the difficulty you're playing on, this can take several repetitions. Don't forget to use your smoke bombs to help with tie-downs, stamina potions to do more Sustained Bursts, and any last traps to sneak in damage between cycles.
Tip: If you're struggling to stay alive, check your armor! Make sure you have an outfit equipped that can handle the heat.
