Dr. Robin Zeng shared CATL’s vision for the future energy system at a joint summit hosted by the World Laureates Summit (WLS) and ‪@WorldGovSummit‬ (WGS). While technological advances have been made, today’s solutions address less than 30% of what a fully sustainable energy system requires. Real-world impact comes from scaling innovations from the lab to the market, which is why CATL continues to invest heavily in R&D.
While global warming is often framed as a climate challenge, it is fundamentally an energy and development challenge. CATL believes international cooperation is the most effective way to address it. Guided by this belief, CATL has evolved from exporting batteries to “local production for local markets” and to licensing its technologies globally through LRS. To help overseas markets reduce costs and scale productivity more efficiently, CATL proposes setting up special economic zones, with regulatory frameworks aligned with proven, scalable models developed in China.
