Miso plus tomato sauce is an unlikely combo but it reminds me of the saltiness from parmesan cheese and then some. 🍝

➜ Tomato Miso Shrimp Pasta Recipe:

Buttery Garlic Shrimp
1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 clove garlic, sliced
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp butter
In a skillet, heat up the butter and olive oil until melted then add the garlic. Cook for a minute until fragrant and then add the shrimp. Season with salt and pepper; cook each side for about a minute or two until opaque. remove and set aside.

For the miso pomodoro sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
4 cloves garlic, sliced
2 teaspoons italian seasoning
2 tablespoons miso paste (mild white or yellow miso works)
1/4 cup pasta water
1 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes
1 tomato, diced
1 tsp kosher salt
red chili pepper (optional)
handful basil leaves, torn
12 oz capellini or spaghetti noodles, cooked and drained

Cook your pasta and drain. Save some of the pasta water for later.
In the same pot you cooked the shrimp in, add the olive oil and butter and let it get hot. Add the remaining garlic and cook again until it's lightly golden brown. Add the italian season and stir for a minute to open up the aroma, then add the crushed tomatoes, pasta water, miso paste, and diced tomato. Mix well until the miso paste dissolves and then let the sauce simmer for 5-10 minutes, covered. Remove the lid and season with some salt and chili pepper if you like. Add the cooked pasta, basil leaves, and shrimp back in. Serve and enjoy!


➜ Crab and Spaghetti Garlic Noodles Recipe:
8 oz spaghetti pasta
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp fish sauce
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp water

2 tbsps olive oil
2 tbsps butter
6 cloves garlic, minced
¼ onion, sliced
8 oz crab meat - fresh or canned
½ tsp cajun seasoning
½ tsp smoked paprika
Coarsely ground black pepper
2 scallions, sliced

Cook spaghetti until al dente according to package direction. Drain and rinse, set aside.

In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and water. Set aside.
In a large skillet over medium high heat, add 1 tbsp of each- olive oil and butter. Add some of the garlic and cook it for about a minute. Add the onion and let it sweat for about a minute. Add the crab, cajun seasoning, smoked paprika to taste. Cook for another minute and then transfer to a bowl and set aside.
Add some the rest of the olive oil and butter and the rest of the minced garlic. Cook for a minute until it’s fragrant. Add the sauce and let it sizzle - then pour in the spaghetti. Mix it well and let it coat for 2-3 minutes to warm through. Add half of the crab and stir to mix. Transfer to a bowl and garnish the top with more crab and green onions. Enjoy!


➜ One Pot Cajun Shrimp Pasta Recipe:

1 lb shrimp
1 cup onion, chopped
4 oz cream cheese
4 cloves garlic, minced
½ bag of frozen bell peppers
1 cup chicken broth
2 tsps cajun seasoning
1 24 oz jar of marinara
8 oz dried linguine pasta

In a bowl, marinate the shrimp with cajun seasoning, salt and pepper for 15 minutes.
When ready to cook, in a large pot, drizzle some olive oil and cook the shrimp on each side for about 1-2 mins until pink. Remove from pot and add the frozen bell peppers and onion.
Stir fry for 3-4 minutes until tender. Remove from pot and set aside.
Add some more olive oil and add the garlic. Cook for a minute until fragrant.
Add marinara, 1 tsp cajun seasoning, chicken broth, and linguine pasta. Boil in one pot for 12-15 minutes until tender. Make sure to stir occasionally so the pasta does not stick to the bottom of the pot and burn.
Halfway through the cooking process, add the cream cheese and let it melt.
When the pasta is fully cooked, mix with the bell peppers and shrimp. Finish it off with a squeeze of lime juice and cilantro.
