This winter in Southcentral Alaska has been unusually warm, and it's been making "winter" offroading in the Knik Glacier area interesting. On this off-road trip, we went across Jim Creek toward Knik Glacier, going through partially frozen water crossings and thawed silty mud. Eventually, we found a good place to stop in the woods by Metal Creek to get shelter from the wind and have a fire.

The warm weather was anticipated, but definitely was more than we bargained for. It was still a great day out in Alaska's backcountry though. Along the way, I also share comparisons to last winter, highlighting just how different the conditions are this year.

Join us for this unique "winter" offroad adventure in the beautiful Knik Glacier area!

🌲🗺️ If you watch my channel you know I don't geotag most places, but Knik Glacier is one of the places I do tag. It's very well known locally, could be compared (at a much smaller scale) to the popular trails at MOAB in L48. If you do happen to go to Knik, please be responsible and help pick up trash if you see any! 🌲🗺️
