A day at Borough Market London - BEST OYSTERS IN LONDON!

Описание к видео A day at Borough Market London - BEST OYSTERS IN LONDON!

On this episode of The Hungry Tourist we will be trying out Eggslut in Portobello Road and checking out the best/freshest oyster spot in Borough Market. Eggslut is breakfast place originally started in LA but a chef who believed eggs were not getting the attention they deserved and Borough Market is one of the most famous fresh produce markets in London.

There are many things you can do in London but visiting Borough Market is definitely a must! Historically borough market was a place where people would gather to trade and sell their fresh produce. For many years this was informal and the market had no real structure. It was official established in 1885 and has grown slightly over the millennia.

The oyster place we visited Richard Haward’s Oysters is a family run business (8 generations) who has been cultivating oysters since the 1700’s in and around the creeks on Mersey Island, Essex. Having a talk with the owner I was able to find out that indeed Richard Haward himself was one of the early traders selling oysters out of the back of a wagon in the 1700’s. We started the day off with amazing egg sandwiches from Eggslut and then headed over to Borough Market for some afternoon oysters and shopping.

I recommend getting to borough market mid afternoon on the weekend as it can get really busy and overwhelming on some weekends. However, with the whole covid situation is a little less busy!

Visit Borough Market information:
Open for lunch on Monday -- Tuesday from 11 am -- 5 pm
Full market is open on Wednesday -- Thursday from 11 am -- 5 pm, Friday from 10 am -- 6 pm, and Saturday from 8 am -- 5 pm (closed on Sunday)
Prices: It would not be hard to spend 20 GBP per person eating here
Website: http://boroughmarket.org.uk/
How to get to there: I think the easiest way is to take the London underground tube to London Bridge Station and then just follow the exit signs that will lead directly to Borough Market.
