This 450nm blue laser build is great for someone looking for an aesthetically pleasing beam. The single-mode laser diode makes for an excellent beam profile and has exceptional beam collimation making it perfect for stargazing and the like.

The laser diode is the PLT5 450B model from Osram. It is rated to output 80mW in its Continuous Wave (CW) mode, has a typical wavelength of 450nm, and is designed to run on a current of 165mA. (However, as seen in the video, the specs can be safely pushed to reach a greater output power of 150mW.)The diode is a 5.6mm single mode diode.
