While entertaining in the summer, summer cocktails are party menu essentials. It's important that you have all the right barware at hand while hosting summer parties so we've put together a video with all essential bar tools. This video is hosted by Elayne Duff and Ricky Gomez of Diageo.

The cocktail shaker is one of the most basic bar tools to have while making cocktails for your guests. Our Saddle Leather Cocktail Shaker and the Rye Cocktail Shaker are great options for your home bar. These shakers are good examples of Cobbler shakers. Consisting of three parts Â-- the tin, the top and the cap, these barware essentials are great for home bars. Bartenders also use Boston shakers, which consist of two parts.

Herbs and fruits are often used for seasonal summer drinks so choose barware accessories like muddlers to mix them in your drinks. For mint and other herbs, use a muddler with a rounded edge as it helps to infuse the flavour without tearing up the leaves. Muddlers with teeth are great bar tools for extracting oils from citrus fruits and mashing other fruits.

Bar spoons are also handy tools to have at hand. They can be used to stir cocktails and spoon out sugar for drinks like mojitos. Hawthorne strainers are ideal for straining mixed drinks with crushed ice while the tea strainer is good for drinks with herbs like mint. The jigger is also an important tool as it helps to measure different ingredients in a cocktail. Knives, cutting boards and vegetable peelers are essential for adding garnishes to drinks.
