At 87 years old, Pope Francis is about to embark on one of the longest journeys of his papacy, spanning over 30,000 kilometers in just 12 days. This journey, his 45th international trip, will take him to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, and Singapore from September 3 to 13.

The Pope's first stop is Indonesia, a nation known for its vibrant diversity and large Muslim population. From there, he will travel to Papua New Guinea, a place far from Rome yet close to his heart as it represents Oceania—the last continent he has yet to visit during his 11 years as Pope. In Timor-Leste, the world's youngest Catholic country, Pope Francis will be the first pontiff to visit since its independence in 2002. His journey will conclude in Singapore, where he will meet with leaders of various faiths, highlighting his ongoing commitment to fostering global unity. Despite facing health challenges that have led him to postpone visits to Africa and the Dubai Climate Summit, Pope Francis remains determined. Should he complete this journey, he will have visited over 65 countries, continuing to build and strengthen the Church’s relationship with the global community.
