US Says Israel Violated International Laws by Using Its Weapons in Gaza

The US State Department has filed a report int he Congress that states Israel may have used US-supplied weapons in Gaza that may have breached international humanitarian laws. The report states there is “reasonable” evidence to believe Israel violated the international laws on protecting civilians. The remarks mark the strongest statement against Israel by the Biden administration amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. The report states that given Israel’s “significant reliance” on weapons provided by the US, it was “reasonable to assess” that they had been used by Israeli Defence Forces. The 46-page report was filed in Congress on May 10. The report came as UNGA backed the Palestinian bid for membership. 143 nations voted in favour of the resolution. Nine nations, including the US and Israel, voted against the resolution while 24 abstained from voting.
