Analysts believe this discrepancy may have forced the Election Commission to extend the timeline—not due to Bengal, but to shield the BJP-ruled UP from embarrassment.

Adding to the tension, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has been summoned by the parliamentary committee on 'One Nation, One Election'—a rare move not seen since 1965. Critics argue this raises serious questions about the autonomy of the Election Commission and its increasing entanglement with political agendas.
