June 25 dub

Описание к видео June 25 dub

I've included more shots of the modules in this video, as well as some shots from the window of my room - to give a little more context.

This was another jam where I was playing around with compression and sidechaining. I sidechained three parts of the mix:

1. The kick is sidechained to the bass. So, when there is a kick the bass dips in volume - which should give the kicks a little more space in the mix.

2. A copy of the dry chords (without any fx processing) is sidechained to the reverbed/delayed chords. So the reverb/delay is ducking out the way when the dry chords play - hopefully to give a little more clarity to those chords and stop the mix being too muddy, while also keeping all the reverb in the space between the chords.

3. The occasional reverb you hear on some of the drum sounds (e.g. at around the 5 minute mark) is sidechained against other drum sounds, like the hats. This means that, when there is a swell of reverb, those other drum sounds dip in volume.
