Track 4 from her seventh album "Broken English" released in 1979 copyright Island Records. It was recorded at Matrix Studios in London and was produced by Mark Miller Mundy.
Marianne began her recording career after she was discovered by the Rolling Stone's manager and producer Andrew Loog Oldham at a party thrown by the band in London in 1964. She released her debut album the following year, which included the song "As Tears Go By" written by Jagger, Richards and Oldham, before it appeared on one of the Stone's own albums. With her sweet, melodic voice and demure personality, it became a worldwide hit, making her one of the only female members of the British invasion. She got married and had a child but the following year she left them to become Mick Jagger's girlfriend for several years. She was a significant inspiration for many of Jagger's lyrics in the Stone's most famous songs released during that time. She eventually left Jagger after becoming involved in an affair and lost custody of her son, leading to a suicide attempt. With her personal life in shambles, she retreated from the public eye and soon after became a homeless heroin addict living on the streets of Soho in London for two years. Her friends tried to rescue her with an intervention but she wasn't able to quit her heroin habit, which lasted a total of seventeen years, including during the recording of this album. A case of severe laryngitis and the many years of drug and alcohol abuse ended up altering her voice, which became raspy and deeper, with some critics describing it as "whiskey-soaked." It had the effect of making the lyrics that much more impactful and captured the anger and frustration that created these songs. It's her creative masterpiece and she agrees with that assessment. The album received excellent reviews and reached the Top 40 in seven countries, but only No. 57 in the U.K. and No. 82 in the U.S. It was certified Gold in Germany and France and Platinum in New Zealand, Australia and Canada. Marianne Faithfull continues to record and her most recent album "She Walks in Beauty" was released in 2021. Written by Barry Reynolds and produced by Mark Miller Mundy. Featuring:

I feel guilt, I feel guilt
Though I know I done no wrong, I feel guilt
I feel guilt, I feel guilt
Though I know I've done no wrong, I feel guilt

I feel (bad) so bad
Though I ain't done nothing wrong I feel bad
(I feel bad, so bad)
Though I ain't done nothin' wrong I feel bad

I never lied to my lover
But if I did I would admit it
If I could get away with murder
I'd take my gun and I'd commit it

(I never gave to the rich)
(I never stole from the poor)
I'm like a curious child
Give me more, more, more, more, more, more, more

I feel blood, I feel blood
Though I feel it in my veins, it's not enough
(I feel blood) I feel blood
(Though it's streamin' through my veins, it's not enough)

(I never stole a scarf from Harrods)
(But if I did you wouldn't miss it)
(I never stole a doll from Lovecraft)
(But if I did you know I'd kiss it)

(I never stole from the rich)
(I never gave to the poor)
I'm like a curious child
Just give me more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more

I feel guilt, I feel guilt
(Though I know I done no wrong, I feel guilt)
I feel guilt, I feel guilt
(Though I ain't done nothin' wrong, I feel guilt)

(Guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt)
(Guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt)
(Guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt)
(Guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt)
(Guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt)
(Guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt)
(Guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt)
(Guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt)
(Guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt)
(Guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt)
(Guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt)
(Guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt)
(Guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt)
(Guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt)
(Guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt)
(Guilt, guilt, guilt)
