President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. looks at the extent of damages caused by severe tropical storm ‘Enteng’ during an aerial inspection on September 4, 2024.

‘Enteng’ is already outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). It made landfall on 2 September 2024 in the vicinity of Casiguran, Aurora and intensified the following day into a severe tropical storm, where its center was estimated at 165 kilometers West Northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

As it exits the PAR, the enhanced southwest monsoon or ‘habagat’ will continue to bring moderate to intense rainfall in other areas of Luzon over the next three (3) days.

Latest reports from the Department of National Defense (DND) - Office of Civil Defense (OCD) as of 10:00 AM today indicate that ‘Enteng’ on its wake has affected 442,804 families or 1,720,568 individuals all over Regions I, II, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), III, National Capital Region (NCR), IV-A or CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), V, VI, VII and VIII, and claimed the lives of 15 individuals, injured 15, with 21 people yet to be found.

In agriculture, ‘Enteng’ caused around PhP350.85 million worth of damage and losses. In terms of infrastructure, Region V suffered PhP200,000 worth of damages.

In a situation briefing earlier, President Marcos Jr. urged all concerned agencies to prioritize the needs of Filipinos in ‘Enteng’-stricken communities. For its part, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has already distributed over 133,000 family food packs (FFPs) to affected families and individuals. These are part of the pre-positioned FFPs in the DSWD Field Offices, released to the local government units (LGUs).

The Department is currently looking at closing ‘Enteng’-response FFPs to around 250,000 altogether.
