On August 6, 2023, in Marshfield Wisconsin, officers gathered at a local residence on reports that a resident was a potential suspect in a motor vehicle theft case from the night prior. Upon arrival, police spoke to the owner of the trailer, Preston. He stated that the suspect, named Ryder, was in the trailer and was getting up to speak to officers.

Eventually, Ryder came out of the trailer and spoke with police. He was adamant that he did not have anything to do with the motor vehicle theft. After some talking, officers notified Ryder that he had a DOC warrant and he was being placed under arrest. Ryder was ordered to put his arms above his head but before officers were able to arrest him, he attempted to flee from police on foot without shoes on.

After a short chase, Ryder stopped and was tackled by an officer for attempting to flee. He was handcuffed and searched. He asked multiple times if he could hit his vape, officers obviously declined his request. Ryder was escorted to a squad car and was placed into the vehicle.

As he was entering the vehicle, he smacked his head intentionally on the cage of the vehicle and was told to stop. He exclaimed "F**k you!" and issued racial slurs at the officer among other things. A safety helmet was placed on Ryder. Due to Ryder having a broken wrist from a previous incident, he requested an ambulance to check on it. He was able to get the helmet off of his head while in the squad car handcuffed. Eventually, Ryder was taken to the hospital for medical clearance where he was medically cleared before being taken to jail.

Ryder was charged with and found guilty of 2 counts of resisting or obstructing an officer and 1 count of disorderly conduct. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail as well as 4 years of probation.
