【About】
This short film was screened in Room 3 of the "The Fitting Room" art project by Bangal Dawson at POLA MUSEUM ANNEX, Ginza, from October 20 to 29, 2023, in collaboration with the film director Kyotaro Hayashi. In a society where phrases like “Be yourself, just as you are” have become cliché and are overshadowed by the idealized notion of beauty, we hope this exhibition provides an opportunity for people to pause and reconsider what it means to be“themselves” and to embrace their true selves.
2023年10月20日〜29日、銀座 POLA MUSEUM ANNEXにて開催されたBangal Dawsonによるアートプロジェクト「The Fitting Room」の展示会場内 Room 3にて上映された本映像は、映像監督 林響太朗氏とのコラボレーショ ンによるもの。『ありのままで、自分らしく。』そんな言葉がクリシェとなり模範的な美しさかのように振り翳されている社会の中で、一度立ち止まり、“ありのままの自分“や”自分らしさ“というものについてあらためて考える機会になることを願って。

Room 3: Short Film “The Fitting Room”
An isolated fitting room, separate from society, where only you exist. As if it slowly brings to the surface and confronts the emotions and conflicts within each individual, the room undergoes gradual transformations. What do we think when we come face to face with our true selves? I find myself going back and forth in this room, trying to discover the vein of authenticity, while being tested by answers that have no clear solution. This is a collaborative work with the film director, Kyotaro Hayashi.
社会から隔たれた、自分だけが存在する試着室。それぞれの内側 にある情動や葛藤を顕在化していくかのように、その部屋がゆっくりと変化していく。ありのままの自分を目の当たりにしたとき、自らは 何を想うのだろうか。私は自分らしさの鉱脈を見つけ出そうとこの部屋を何度も行き来しながら、その正解のない答えに試されている。 映像監督・林響太朗氏とのコラボレーション作品
