This is the best kid's picture book about how Ganesha came to help write the epic poem of Hindu literature, the Mahabharata. Ganesha is just like any other kid, except that he has the head of an elephant and rides around on a magical mouse. And he loves sweets, but when Ganesha insists on biting into a super jumbo jawbreaker laddoo, his tusk breaks off! With the help of the wise poet Vyasa, and his friend Mr. Mouse, Ganesha learns that what seems broken can be quite useful after all. With vibrant, graphic illustrations, expressive characters, and offbeat humor, this is a wonderfully inventive rendition of a classic tale.

• How did his perspective of his missing tusk change?
• What is the Mahabharata?

Ganesha is a Hindu God, At first, he is just like any other kid, except that he has the head of an elephant and rides around on a magical mouse. And he loves sweets, but when he bites a super jumbo jawbreaker laddoo, his tusk breaks off! With the help of the wise poet Vyasa, Ganesha learns that what seems broken can be useful after all as he uses his tusk write the sacred epic poem of Hindu literature, the Mahabharata.

While Ganeesha initially feels angry and embarrassed about his tusk falling out, this allows him to write the sacred Hindu text that no one else could ever write so something he thought was bad became good.

The Mahabharata is one of the longest epic poems in the world, and it is considered to be one of the most important texts in Hinduism. The historicity of the Mahabharata is unclear. Some scholars believe that it is based on a real war that took place in ancient India, while others believe that it is a purely mythical story.

Use paper and drawing materials or the notepad on your phone or device to draw or write about a time your feelings changed about something or a time something you thought was bad turned out to be good, like a rainy day turning into a fun worm rescuing puddle jumping adventure.
