When Paco de Lucía's album 'Luzía' came out I was 17 years old and completely overwhelmed by the beautiful music. Overwhelmed by the entire CD, but specifically by the opening track 'Río de la Miel'.
I was living at my parents' house at the time and I remember saying to my father: "It's in A minor and it doesn't have very fast passages, I think it's quite easy to learn". My father had his doubts about that and said it might be more complicated than I assumed. I certainly have to agree with him now, but I am very happy that now, many years later, I have learned to play the piece and that I have recorded it and can share it with you, accompanied by the fantastic percussionist Udo Demandt.
This tutorial version is for all guitarists who, like me, have ever dreamed of being able to play this piece.
In my opinion, 'Río de la Miel' is still one of the greatest pearls made for the flamenco guitar.
