Best First Pro Horn? Yamaha 8335 RGS Gen 1 Xeno Trumpet - ACB Show & Tell

[Link in description] One of the best horns to upgrade to from a student rental or hand-me-down horn is a Yamaha 8335 Xeno. The RGS option in particular is a really wonderful design, certainly my personal favorite in the Xeno line. We're always on the lookout for pro-level Yamahas in great condition, and this one came in as a trade towards an Adams.

The short slide legs of this particular reverse leadpipe design allow a more traditional placement of the front brace. This gives the horn better centering than a typical reverse leadpipe design. The heavier mouthpiece receiver helps with centering as well. This horn has a gold brass bell, which adds a little warmth to the sound vs. yellow brass. Overall weight is maybe a little more than a Bach 37, but definitely still in the medium category. The sound is even and crisp throughout the range and volume spectrums.

The valves on this horn feel awesome and have great compression. There are a couple tiny pings, and no redrot. This is a very low mileage instrument. There's a bit of corrosion on the pistons, but they feel great and there's no measurable compression loss (we check compression with a magnahelic gauge). Comes with a Xeno case as well, but no mouthpiece. This would be a great option if you're looking to upgrade to a professional grade silver trumpet at a fraction of the price of today's new pro horns.

The Xeno line is meant for all-around playing, so this horn has tons of versatility. It will fit well in concert band, jazz, and orchestral settings, quintet, church work.... It would also be a great backup horn for a freelancer.
