Power Carving a Trench Bowl

In this video, I power carve a trench bowl (also known by some as a dough bowl) out of curly maple and walnut.

To do the initial rough shaping, I used the TurboPlane wheel by Arbortech on an angle grinder. For the smoothing and final shaping I used the Festool RAS 115 sander with 40 and then 120 grit paper.

After that, I did finish sanding up to 500 grit using the Festool RO90 sander and finished the bowl with General Finishes Salad Bowl Finish.

After 2 coats of finish I discovered some pretty deep scratches that I'd missed, so I sanded the whole bowl back down from 80 to 120, 220, 500 and 800 and will refinish it using Salad Bowl finish.
