With strong European Championship opposition, including Armin Schwarz in a works Toyota Celica, Fisher excelled, surging into a comfortable lead until engine issued sidelined him early on day 2. In the end, Schwarz cruised to a comfortable win as he flung the Celica around the island in spectacular fashion.
