At ENDO 2025, Richard Auchus, MD, PhD, presented his analysis of patients with difficult-to-treat type 2 diabetes due to hypercortisolism from the CATALYST phase 4 trial. In an interview with HCPLive, he discussed the increasing disease risk and comorbidities that accompany higher cortisol counts in patients with diabetes and provides advice to clinicians on screening for similar triggers of treatment resistance in new patients.

“When the usual things don’t work, don’t keep banging your head against the wall. Think about secondary causes. Cortisol and aldosterone are two of the first things you should be thinking of.”
