Howdy everyone. John here with the etrailer and today we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima SkinnyWarrior on our 2020 Chevy Equinox. This is gonna be a great choice if you want to get any of your longer items, especially clubs, firewood, skis, if you wanna get them from where you are camping to a place where you can actually use them. Now I'm planning on going on a trip to Colorado soon and something like this is gonna be right up my alley. I'm gonna be able to put things that may get a little bit wet, dirty, dusty, keep it out of my vehicle and keep it up on top where it can dry off. I'm planning on keeping a lot more of my camping and tent equipment up here because of that.
And let's actually take a closer look at it right now. Now, this is gonna be made out of steel and have a powder coat finish, which is gonna be great if you have any wetter objects. Let's say that you're going kayaking and you wanna keep some of your equipment in here, your wet bags, that way you don't have to worry about any kind of rush or deterioration of your actual carrier, which is very useful. It also, as you can see, going to have more of a elongated look to it and the way the bars are kind of moved up here you're gonna have a lot of places to tie down. Whenever, let's say, you have your bags that need to be have more of a secure fit.
You're gonna be able to choose wherever you wanna put those. And with it being the SkinnyWarrior, that means you're going to have a lot more crossbar space to put other things you want. Let's say you have a enclosed cargo basket, you can put that on here. There's more than enough room. Or, let's say, you have to put a kayak on here, you're gonna have the space for that.
And if you have hangover like we do with our crossbars, you're gonna be able to put it there. Let's say you're on the shorter side, like I am, you may want a little bit of help being able to get your stuff in there. And that's one of the things that I like is whenever you have the overhang like we do here, you're going to use that with the SkinnyWarrior and not have to worry about anything happening. Now, to get to the part that you actually wanna know is how much stuff can you put in here And the length you're going to have on the inside from that big bar inside of that big bar to the inside of this big bar is about 55 inches. So, that's a good amount of space.
You can actually make that a little bit longer with 16 inches with the add-on that we sell here at etrailer. And from side to side, you're gonna have less space. It is going to be about 21 inches. Now, you can fit some of your I would say a good size cooler in that area, but let's say you just have an average size cooler that everybody has those old blue ones. They aren't gonna be big enough for that. This is definitely going to be something for your more elongated stuff. You have camping chairs, firewood, tents, anything that's more on the elongated side is gonna be useful for this. Now, the way that it's being held down is this mechanism right here. You're gonna have a carriage and a T-bolt. And whenever you're wanting to get this out, it's very easy. All you have to do is undo it with this knob and you don't have to worry about doing both sides, which I really like. Just have to undo this side a little bit. Turn it around. It takes a second and then you can open it up like this. So, you can just undo those and then move it off, which is very nice. Though, let's say that you're wanting to move it up a little bit whenever it comes to where it's placed with your rack, you're going to have to move it up in segments with where the bars are 'cause that's where it's being held down. So, it may have to play around with the fit. You may have to move it forward a little bit and move one of them back. But overall, I've never seen a rack system that isn't able to fit this.
