PROS:
Very inexpensive
The machine is very quiet. It will only beep after the first round to indicate that it's time for all the additional ingredients, such as nuts and raisins.
The acutal baking process is very simple. See the Tips section below to find out about it.
Reliable and very consistent (especially concerning the price)
If the unit comes damaged, they will replace it without any hassle.
You will get your loaves in less then one hour, because it's very fast and efficient.
Once you learn how to use it, you will get the desired results.
People who give bad reviews to this product make a mistake of reading and applying the manual and the recipes that come with it. You shouldn't do that.
CONS:
The recipes that come with it are pretty bad because they have too much yeast inside of them (the cause of fallen loaves).
The user manual is pretty bad. See the Tips section below to find out how to make up for it.
The 3 crust options are not functioning properly, that's why you have to select the "light" option most of the time, otherwise your loaf will get too brown. Not to mention that the crust will also sometimes get too thick.
No way of stopping the process, and no, unplugging it doesn't help either.
HELPFUL TIPS:
-Wash it only by hand. You get the instructions manual with the unit.
If you're new to baking with a bread machine, don't count on the recipe book. Rather, buy a good well rounded book on Amazon. I strongly recommend The Bread Lover's Bread Machine Cookbook. It's excellent.
Also, don't even try to use the manual, as it is very uninformative and complex for a beginner. Instead, you can get something like The Big Book of Bread Machine Recipes by Donna Rathmell.
The baking process as explained by a satisfed customer: Warm the liquid in a glass measuring cup in a microwave, stir in the salt/honey/sugar/butter in the warm liquid, pour the mixture into the baking pan, place the pan on the scale, adjust the scale to zero, add the required flour (1 cup flour = 4 to 4.5 oz), level the flour, add the yeast, twist to lock the pan into the breadmaker, plug in the breadmaker, select the crust color (best to try the "Light" color first), select the baking setting, after about 5 min. check the dough and add water/flour if necessary (very important step), remove the bread to a cooling rack as soon as it's done, then wipe the baking pan when it's cool enough.
Prevent the sunken look by reducing the amount of added liquid and yeast.
If you want additional kneading time, simply restart the machine.
