🎵 "Killer Joe" 🎵, is a jazz standard, written in 1960 by Benny Golson. Golson wrote “Killer Joe” after establishing himself as one of the leading composers and arrangers in the hard bop movement. He is known for his hits “I Remember Clifford”, “Whisper Not”, and “Blues March”, but “Killer Joe” became his most widely recognised tune among both jazz fans and casual listeners.

This performance is a live improvisation by Theo Charles (age 13), Ed Sutherland (16), and Silas Porter (16), at the time of recording.

➡️ This video has been recorded (in one take) and produced at Balcarras School, in the music department. We are incredibly lucky to have such excellent facilities that were provided by a generous donation from Julian Dunkerton. We continue to value music as an academic subject, and the staff and students are grateful for such a great department to make music in.
