Why LPG flame is BLUE? - By Kishor Singh

Generally the color of the flame is mostly orange, but you must have noticed that the flames coming out of a gas stove are blueish. Tap the screen twice and let's understand this biased science.
Fuel, oxygen, and heat are needed to burn fire. But the color of the flames depends only on two of the mentioned things.
First: Fuel Type, the color of the flame highly depends on the type of fuel causing the fire. Gas stoves generally use LPG as fuel, which consists of hydrocarbon gases like Propane and Butane. These hydrocarbon gases burn completely without producing carbon.
The second is oxygen. The burners of the stoves are designed in such a way that the combustion process must get oxygen in the required amount, which makes the fuel burn at its peak efficiency, and no wastage gets left behind.
But we have often seen the color of the flames to be orange on burning wood. And this happens because the combustion process doesn't receive the proper amount of oxygen causing the unburnt carbon, and those small particles of unburnt carbon are the reason why the flame of wood seems orange.
