Shrove Tuesday 2024 can only mean one thing, Sedgefield Ball Game 2024
Blood Sweat and Beers were on the menu for the annual game which took place this year on Tuesday 13th February 2024.

Rita Curry got the game underway at the usual time of 1pm by passing the ball through the hoop in the ground three times before all hell broke loose and carnage erupted upon Sedgefield.

Blood was spilt, Beer in the gallons were drunk and sweat and tears were also on show. It was a great event with adults and kids getting involved with the 900 year old traditional game.

The ball found its way to the Sedgefield Social Club around the hour mark and local lad Danny Sigsworth managed to claim the reward of 4 free pints for getting the ball in to the club first. After a quick proud photo with his dad John and knocking back a quick pint Danny and the ball resumed play.

The game was closed out close to the 4pm mark with one man going in to the history books as this years winner and becoming a local legend, This years winner Harrison Lower was the man of the moment after a tough day of battling.
