In this episode, we’re diving into the nitty gritty of deliverability updates from Gmail and Yahoo. Learn everything you need to know about how these updates will affect your email marketing efforts.

Starting Dec. 1, 2023, Gmail will begin deleting email accounts that have been inactive for 2+ years. Now, more than ever, it is important to target engaged audiences and adopt a regular list cleaning strategy (more info here).

We recommend creating a segment that aggregates any contacts who have not opened and have not clicked an email in the last 24 months (or 104 weeks in the Klaviyo segment builder). This segment should then be used to suppress out of date contacts or used as an exclusion list for campaigns and flows.

I’ve attached a brief overview of the Google changes. TLDR: Continue sending to your engaged audiences & consider list cleaning profiles that have not engaged in the last 2 years!
