Now for the Rod....I get it, Stuff from China gives some people heartburn and probably for good reason.
Unfortunately, almost everything is made in China, and most stuff that is "made in the USA" has components or materials that come from China. That's just the nature of the world we live in.

Would I like to have a 1000 dollar Sage? Sure! would I like to have a 3000 dollar fly rod? Heck yeah! but I don't have that kinda money, I dont even have 300 dollars to spend on another fly rod. SO this one hit the mark with its amazing 120 dollar price tag! And I am 20% impressed and was happy to have it! ...Foreshadowing?

So without further adu, let's do further: In this video, I will be reviewing the Maxcatch Ultralight 7.5 foot, 3 weight fly rod. This rod is a sweet little fly rod that is designed for smallish trout and other sub 10 inch species (even though I caught a 12 inch brown on it) great for mountain streams and for use in Utah's Cutthroat Slam!

I have been using this rod for a few months and was extremely impressed with its performance. The carbon fiber blank is junk, but at least it's lightweight and easy to handle. That said, the tips are prone to breaking if you put side pressure on them and so are the other sections, in fact in part two you'll see and hear the entire rod snap in half at in the first section where its thickest on an 8 inch brown trout....

The Medium-fast action of this rod is perfect for fly fishing small streams/ rivers. I have been able to make accurate and precise casts with this rod, which has allowed me to catch more fish.

The reel seat and guides on this rod are also top-notch. They are well-constructed and have held up well over time. The guides are smooth and make for easy casting and line management.

However, I can not recommend the Maxcatch Ultralight 7.5 foot, 3 weight fly rod for any angler. I went through 3 tips and a main section with light use. Less than 20 hours use.

I'll post an update to this video and all the things I went through to even make this thing fishable. Such as sanding the reel so it didn't destroy the 2nd fly line...

Thank you for watching!
