The Reine-Lofoten Archipelago in Norway
The Reine-Lofoten archipelago is a region in the Lofoten archipelago of Norway. Reine is a small town with a population of 329 people. The islands are located in the Lofoten archipelago about 125 km west of Svolvaer Airport and nine km east of Moskenes. It is accessible by car via the E10 scenic road.

There are two main ways to reach the islands. You can drive to Svolvaer from Narvik, Norway, or you can take a bus. Buses to the islands run twice daily. From Narvik, it takes around 4 hours and 15 minutes to reach Svolvaer. Buses from Harstad/Narvik Airport Evenes take two hours and 15 minutes. Buses will cross the Moysalen National Park as you ride north.

The island is known for its cod, which migrates south during summer. This type of fish has its own European PGI and can be prepared as a snack or used as a pizza topping. Thousands of tons of cod are dried on wooden racks in early spring. The light in Lofoten varies with the seasons. From May to early August, there is 24 hours of daylight. In July and August, there is a bluish twilight lasting about three hours. During winter, temperatures are still below freezing and begin to rise again in April.
