www.TinsleyCompany.com – This food coating and seasoning equipment applies salt and cheddar cheese powder flavorings to popped snack chips. The salt and powder adhere to the chips using an electrostatic seasoning process. This type of process provides up to 98% coating efficiency with 10-45% powder savings!

Process Description:

Popped snack chips are supplied to an infeed vibratory conveyor that meters them into a positively charged rotating drum. When coating chips with salt, they are first sent through a cooling drum before entering the larger charged rotating drum. An electrostatic oil spray nozzle meters an exact amount of tact to efficiently moisten the chips.

At the other end of the drum, a twin screw feeder meters the salt or cheese powder seasoning onto a vibratory feeder and an air knife blows the seasoning through a negatively charged field. The coatings are attracted to the positively charged snack chips and evenly coats them, creating a true wrap around effect. The seasoned snack chips discharge out of the drum and onto a takeaway conveyor for packaging.

Controls and Efficiency:

The controls for the food coating and seasoning equipment are mounted to a food grade portable cart which makes cleaning and maintenance very user-friendly. Operators can choose to run the system in automatic or manual mode to adjust for different product feed rates, as well as for cleaning purposes. Changing over from different seasonings such as BBQ to salt, or salt to cheddar takes an hour or less to set up and dial in.
