Goldy Brar, accused of the murder of singer Sidhu Moose Wala and designated as a terrorist by the Government of India, made headlines in Indian media amid reports of his alleged shooting in the United States. Hailing from Punjab's Muktsar, Brar is the son of Shamsher Singh, a former assistant sub-inspector in the Punjab police. Initially associated with the Babbar Khalsa terrorist group, Brar moved to Canada on a student visa in 2017. Despite having no criminal record at the time, he allegedly took over operations of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi upon his arrival in Canada, engaging in contract killings and extortion rackets. Brar, ranked 15th on Canada's most wanted list, gained notoriety for confessing to the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala in June 2023, citing revenge for the death of Punjab student leader Vicky Middukhera. Brar labeled Moose Wala as "egotistical" and claimed the murder was necessary to teach him a lesson.
