Sonic X Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings (ソニック × シャドウ ジェネレーションズ：闇の序章[2], Sonikku X Shadō Jenerēshonzu Yami no Joshou?) is an 2D animated web-series depicting the backstory of Shadow the Hedgehog, and serving as a prologue to Sonic X Shadow Generations.[3] The series contains three episodes, all of which were released on 25 September 2024, 3 October 2024, and 10 October 2024, respectively.[4] A preview of episode one was released on 6 July 2024 at the annual Anime Expo event.[5]

Synopsis

Past and present collide in a frantic chase for truth and understanding! Shadow is haunted by the memories of battles fought and lives lost. But these nightmares aren’t just lingering pain! They’re prompted by a force Shadow thought was destroyed.[6]
