Books by Michele Weiner-Davis
My books Divorce Busting and The Divorce Remedy are dedicated to the idea that most relationship problems can and should be resolved. What are generally missing are the necessary skills, tools, compassion, and understanding. The books are chock full of skills and practical advice.
In A Woman’s Guide to Changing Her Man I’ve written a woman-to-woman manual about how men and women differ, and, knowing that, what to do. The book’s divided into three parts: Ready, Aim, Fire. In it’s German translation, my friend tells me it was re-titled Dog Training. Really?
My first book, In Search of Solutions, is a textbook used in several graduate schools, coauthored with my co-founder of Solution-Oriented Therapy, Bill O’Hanlon. It describes the principles and applications of Solution-Oriented Therapy (SOT) and its genealogy from Milton Erickson to the Mental Research Institute to [my mentor] Steve de Shazer at BTFC.
SOT works quickly by helping people identify fail-safe strategies to resolve problems. Instead of identifying the causes of problems, SOT identifies the causes of solutions. It’s a technology for change, not introspection. The approach is based on a very simple formula: do more of what works and less of what doesn’t.
