Headed up Mt. Lemmon and getting familiar with our new winter home 🌵
While spending time in this beautiful part of the country, we are learning so many new things.
Before this trip, I thought Saguaro (suh·waa·row) cacti were far and few between, but as you see here, they are quite abundant with forests stretching many acres in this unique area.
While they do saturate the land here, we learned that they have thinned significantly in the last 85 years, though not as harshly as anticipated. In the late 1930s when the National Park was formed, and National Forest was claimed, there was concern by the 90s the cactus would be no more. We are thrilled be in 2023 and seeing such human-like cacti dance across the desert landscape.
While the Saguaros decorate the scenery, they are looked over by the hoodoo rock formations, sculpted by the wind, valleys just the same.
Mt Lemmon has beautiful skyline drives that make you feel on top of the world, while reflecting on just how big everything is compared to the shoes you walk in.
