Name Origin: The waterfall is named after a Swiss woman named Davi (sometimes referred to as David or Devi) who is said to have drowned in the waterfall in 1961. The story goes that she was swimming in the Pardi Khola (a river) with her husband when the floodgates of the dam were opened, leading to her being swept away by the current and disappearing into the underground tunnel. The fall was named in her memory.
Local Name: The local name, Patale Chhango, translates to "underground waterfall" in Nepali, which accurately describes the nature of the falls.

Water Flow: The water from Devi's Fall originates from the Phewa Lake dam, making its way through a series of tunnels before cascading down the rocks. During the monsoon season, the waterfall is at its most powerful and impressive.
