This video demonstrates some of the initial groundwork used by the FetchMasters Positive Gun Dog Training Program to train dogs to remain steady to wing, shot and fall. When training this way, the retrieve becomes the reward for remaining steady.

To accomplish this, dogs need a good retrieve, a solid sit-stay (for flushers/retrievers) and a solid whoa (for pointing breeds).

The training is force-free and is based on reward, not compulsion.
