Welcome to your Beginning Oil Painting 101 class! In this video, I discuss all of the aspects involved in starting with the medium. We thoroughly go over all the materials including oil paint, palettes, palette knives, brushes, solvents, artist oils and mediums, surfaces (panels & canvases), and easels. Additionally, I go over the many different ways you can setup your studio space with an overview of various lighting options. I also make sure to provide an in-depth summary of all the safety concerns surrounding the media. Finally, I wrap up the video with a number of introductory color palettes you might want to explore, and several foundational oil painting techniques to get you started.

This video is meant as a foundational survey to the medium. Throughout the video, I will offer the brands that I use and enjoy, and I list out my personal recommendations of what you'll require to get started.
