The ISGF’s 5th webinar in the bi-weekly webinar series on “The Short List of Climate Actions That Will Work” was organized on the topic "’Fixing Industrial Processes Is Technically Easy, Economically Challenging"

Michael Barnard emphasized the objective to present and discuss the main reasons behind high emissions in major industries like steel, cement, and chemical manufacturing. He highlighted that there are two primary reasons: first, these industries required enormous amounts of heat, currently provided by fossil fuels; second, many of their processes emitted CO2 as a waste product. Addressing these issues was crucial, and despite the availability of technical solutions for virtually every case, they were often resisted due to high capital costs, increased operational expenses, and cognitive biases. The webinar was moderated by Reji Kumar Pillai, President of the India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF) and Chairman of the Global Smart Energy Federation.
